The trip was awesome. It was a great experience.

Tiring. But great.

95+ miles, 50 pound pack, 7 days. Lots of mountains.

From North Adams, MA to Rt. 103, VT

That being said, it is time to unveil the video of (MOST) of the HHBOD Senior Show. (My camera turned off during our title game)

It's thoroughly amusing, I promise.

ONE of the best 3 act plays we've ever done. To include a kiss between Brett and Lumberjack.

(If you didn't figure it out, the stories are things that are the exact opposite of our personalities)

(You... may have to turn your volume up)

(I know how to ACTUALLY pronounce Obsequious)

Presents Harry Houdini's Emergency Room!:

Thanksgiving show.

Games Played
Storyteller (5:10)
Snatch (25:43)
Slackers (45:37)

The story at the beginning is true, by the way.

Wish you could see the quirks of my storyteller character... it was one of my better ones, although really weird. This snatch is pretty awkward thanks to our questions... the new snatch is far improved.

What you can't hear during the piano: Suzie decides to sacrifice the baker's wife cause she was useless, then changes her mind and decides to instead, gather everyone and dance in a circle... hten the money fell from the sky killing everyone else, (I stepped in the temple)

halloween show )

SHOW THIS SATURDAY: 4:30 PM
To include:
NEW IMPROVED SNATCH! Now with less annoying short form stylings! We're actually sticking to 3 storylines and it works so much better. I can't stand watching some of our old snatches.
3 Act No wait, not play, but musical. Bring your ear-plugs.

Last chance to see us this year! GO!

For those of you who don't know, Harry Houdini's Box of Doom is PC's one and only Long Form Improv Group.

This is your reminder.

reminder: Improv is a TEAM sport.
remember that in your audition.

EDIT: ITS WEDNESDAY JUNE 27TH NOT NEXT THURSDAY! STILL GO!

The Providence Improv Fest bit that we are in is next thursday at, oh yes, the Trinity Rep theater. If you just want to see the session we're in, its $10.00 (tickets for just that session here) If you would like to see all three sessions it's only $20.00 (tickets for the whole thing here) Our session starts at 8:10 (we share it with two other artists) and the whole evening begins at 7:00.

It'll be a good night. I know Rejects on the Rise are good, they're also from our school - they do short form. I've heard really good things about Trinity Zoo, and Inside Jokes is decent... made up of mostly PC alums, it is.

I'm really really surprised not to see Brown's group there... I've heard they're better than improv jones often.

Either way. You should go. Yup.

Oh, right now I'm listening to: Boys Night Out - Composing

P.S. Does Ska-metal sound like a plausible idea to anyone else? Cause it'd be fun to start a ska-metal group. or if not just ska-core/ska-punk. I'll play t-bone, I could probably get Ian to play Guitar. Seriously, lets do this.

Reminder...

You there... this is a reminder to you...

Today (Wednesday). 8:00 PM. Smith 228. Harry Houdini's Box of Doom. Free.

Long Form Improv. Last Chance. I say: LAST CHANCE to see Brian and Ian (unless we make PIF). You don't want to miss that chance... trust me. Wanna check out our last show? Look here.

oh and I made a craigslist thingy whoring out myself as a free event photographer, explaining that I had never done any real gigs, but I had some experience, and say I'd be willing to do small events for free in exchange for experience. I might be shooting a first communion soon.

yikes. sleeping.

The Show wen't really really well last night. I set up my camera to the side and recorded it for anyone whos interested (mine isn't the legit recording for the PIF application). Please remember though: watching a video of improv isn't nearly as funny as watching improv. It's the spontaneity and the live energy that makes it awesome.

That being said, we rocked the house! You may have to turn the volume up. Sorry about the image quality.

Yessir. It is ALL made up on the spot. And completely and totally ridiculous.

We played three games. (Remember, we're LONG FORM not short form. It's different (better and harder) than short form (which is what you see on Whose Line and most improv places)

1: 3 Act Play - begins at 2:40, ends at 26:06 - game premise: Given an item by the audience, one person begins a play in three acts following the socratic rules of play: The location is not allowed to change, neither are characters played.

2: Slackers - begins at 26:20, ends at 34:51 - game premise: Given a location by the audience, 2 people begin a scene. at some point, an item is given from one character to another. This character leaves, and enters a scene with another character and passes the item on. This continues until the original character comes back and is given the item back.

3: Harold (RANT) - begins at 35:10, ends at 54:42- game premise: given a suggestion from the audience, 3 rants on the item are given, which leads to a variety of scenes based on the ideas brought up in the rants. different characters, scenes, anything goes. When an improver walks in front of a scene he is wiping it and beginning a new one with whomever else (s)he chooses

And in other news! Relay for life tonight! Our team (PC Pirates: Treasure hunt for the cure - 10 people) has raised 3,440 dollars. woot!

Right now I'm re-watching the music video for Here it Goes Again - Ok Go Just watch it

I have a dream (this is not meant to be a mockery of MLK, btw) But anyway. I have a dream, of getting like, 12 people together. And us twelve people will spread out about every 3 feet on a sidewalk, or on a train and we will, at the exact time put on earphones, and at the exact same time, begin dancing. Not some random dance, no. An entirely choreographed step by step movement, with complex choreography, and immensely cheesy moves. At the same time. Maybe even groups of 4 spread out a little further. Think Community theater musical. We will not be wearing anything special, and we won't walk there together. We will walk their from separate places, stand on our given place, face the street, and await the given signal. And people will be confused. Hopefully they will be amused, they will laugh, and their day will be a little better?

Why?

Simply for the sake of doing it.

So ... who wants in?

Sidenote: Harry Houdini's Box of Doom, the Long Form Improv group I'm in here at PC. The only long form improv group here at PC. has officially begun this year. We're planning on having a show in early October. So .. um... keep all of early October open.
