so, what is this all about?
The Hub Crawl is a game involving an afternoon out, digital photography, puzzlesolving, teamwork and finding out how well you know your way around Boston. It's a race against the clock sort of event where the hub's reputation for being a walkable town is truly tested. What's more, it's a great opportunity to spend some time with friends, exploring, taking pictures and having yourself a little adventure.
The event in a nutshell: Equipped with digital cameras (or camera phones), teams compete by visiting various parts of the city to take “photo-captures” of listed sites and objects for points. Some photo-captures won't be listed but will instead involve puzzles. Solving these will hint the location of “tokens” hidden in the city that can be photographed for more points. Taken together, these tokens spell out the location of a final token. Capture that and get even more points. The team with the most points at the end of three hours wins!
Nerdy? Yep. Adventurous? Definitely. Give us a shot. To get a better feel for what it's all about, check out our flickr gallery. Heck, follow us on twitter, even!

this sounds neat! how can i play? how do i sign up?

OPTION ONE: PRE-REGISTRATION (The Much Preferred Majestic Golden Option)
Get a team of three or four together and email us at hubcrawl.@.gruntwerk...com. You will be assigned an embarrassing team name (which you can change), be designated the de facto Team Captain (also can be changed) and given instructions on how to pay the pre-registration fee of $20 for your team (no refunds). Be careful with the cut 'n paste action there, bucko - that email address is formatted to thwart spammers.
What is the benefit of pre-registering?

OPTION TWO: JUST SHOW UP (The Dangerous Option)
Crawlers who just turn up at the event pay a registration fee of $10 per person (cash only, no refunds) to play. Show up as a team or show up as singles. We'll do our best to get you on a team.
Now, why is option two dangerous?

when's the next crawl? where should we go to play?
The next crawl is on May 1st, 2010, from 1pm to 4pm (rain date: May 8th, possibly). Please show up between the two above ground entrances to the Park Street T Station at The Boston Common. Registration begins at 12:30 pm. Please be early.
